What format are those videos you speak of?

They are AVI format with DivX video and mp3 audio. When you try to import it it says it can't import. There seems to be some flags in it that VLC shows in the media properties. VLC will play it but not WMP and Nero ShowTime will play only the video.

I have the DivX plugin installed and it is just standard mp3 audio stream, I don't think it uses the DivX DS filter though as ShowTime says it is an unknown video format. VLC can't seem to convert it to anything other than MPEG-4 and x264 and both turn out low quality video vith decent quality audio. It's like it's a special format that uses common formats and hides what they are.

Does that happen with all your Avis? Could it be a corrupt one?

I am sorry man, dunno anything else. Only once I had problems with an AVI, and that was corrupt. I convert all mine to DVD format with Nero.

It seems like it should work. But when I try to open it in WMP it says that one or more of the codecs can't be found. This is weird.

UPDATE: Success, kind of. Nero Recode can read the AVI files and convert them. The only problem is that the bottom sometimes comes out with a moving line or green but its not that bad. Then the output file is readable by whatever can read Nero Digial mp4 files. :)

What I do is using Total Video Convert to convert Google video FLV file to DivX, then use DivX Player 6.1 to burn to DVD or CD.
