I am after software to rip from DVD to hard disk.

Now i dont know but i have heard that mpeg4 is the standard sort of the best trade off between size and quality.

I would appreciate some software advice and a high quality format suggestion please.

divx format is great at both small size and high quality. The software should be what you are looking for.
