If you live near a Best Buy, starting tomorrow, Verbatims will be on sale and they are very good discs.

You did get an honest answer. Jasper44 stated NO! & NO! Can't be anymore honest than that.

@ nosty, sorry for the misfortune. i lucked out and found 4 spindles of sony +r mij at bestbuy, and of course i bought all of them (14.99). it was kind of weird, because they were sitting off to the side by themselves. i think someone had tried to hide them or something, because the normal slot for them was empty. one mans pain is another mans gain.

maxell has always done well for me, .36 cents a piece isnt too bad either. meritline has tys on sale for 79.99 for 300, thats .27 a piece. living in canada u should be able to get them. im not sure when the sale goes off, so u might want to check. i like to keep mine at .30 or less. here are a couple of links to help out with the media quality and general information...http://archive.speedlabs.org/index.php/topic,357.0.php.. and also this...http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm ...and dont forget...http://www.eventdv.net/Articles/ReadArticle.aspx?CategoryID=103&A...

Sorry I got here too late. I recommend against buying any phillips media. Good chance of it being cmc mags. The maxell's should be ok but that's still a little pricy. Merritline.com had a special on a 100 pk of verbatim dvd-r's for $10.00 after rebates less shipping earlier this week. I don't know if they still have it or if they ship to canada.

If you decide to go with the maxell's look for some that are made in japan otherwise you could end up with media made by ritek. Ritek is good budget media but can be found for quite a bit less.

@nosty10s - i would honestly recommend half hour hour delving into this forum to see what's good and what's not, in conjunction with seeing an apparent bargain in store, then you'll know what to avoid..
