i have successfuly backed up my part one discs but have been unable to backup any of the 4 part 2 discs using dvdshrink or dvd decrypter.
The discs scan ok on very first loading int0 the pc but analysing to compress produces errors. dvd decrypt fails to register any disc on loading.
Can any one please help?

atwitsend,
If I read your thread properly you are having problems compressing the dvd ( PART 2). Have you tried ripping part 2 discs to the HD using DVDFAB Decrypter and then running that through VobBlanker and then using Shrink to compress. Below are the instructions one of the Members here wrote. You can use Shrink in place of Nero:

Car.mike,

Sincere thanks for your help. I used dvdfab decrypter which worked perfectly, then used DVD Shrink to compress.
I am still intrigued as in my original post, as to why either software failed. DVD Decrypt actually crashed every time on each of the four disks of lost despite an uninstall and reinstall.
Is there anything new or special about the encryption of the second seriese lost disks.I am in the uk and the disks are region 2.
once again ,sincere thanks.

atwitsend ,
I have a feeling that it is the newer encryptions. DVDDecrypter has stopped operations and DVDFAB Decrypter stepped up to the plate and has done a wonderful job in their place. I am glad that you got it to work

Are you talking about Lost, the series about Oceanic Flight 815? (For Lost fans that are up to date, when was the last time we heard that, eh?). Anyway, if we are talking about that Lost, only season one is on DVD and I had no issues backing any of the discs up. I used Shrink to compress and Decryptor to burn. AnyDVD was running, obviously. If you can, download the trial version of AnyDVD and back up these discs. It'll work for there are no special encryptions found in this series.

Otherwise, there's always VOB and DVDFab (as suggested).

Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie
