what browser are you using? have you tried another? have you made any changes with your firewall lately? try clearing your temporary internet files and running CCleaner, Spybod S&D, Ad-Aware, your antivirus, and any other maintainence program you may have. make sure they're all updated, of course.

Using IE6.
I've cleared all ie history, run ccleaner, registry fix, bug doctor, Ad-Aware and no adware.
Still can't access secured sites though.
Hadn't tried ccleaner before and it did clear a lot of files out.
Any other ideas ???
Thanks

@ gavman20,
You have run some good programs for spyware & such. Maybe too many. Do a "Google" search on bug doctor. Also, "registry fix" available at "freedownloadscenter" may be tainted or the site is a source of infection for malware.
I did not see any anti-virus program in your listing. There are some free ones available. AntiVir Personal Edition v7.0 is one available for download on this site. I've not used it but it appears to be OK. In any case, run a virus scan with what ever you have.
I would suggest that you check out FireFox as your browser instead of using IE. There also a lot of plug-ins avalable that can enhance security.

Thanks I'll give that a try.
I'm using Avast as a Virus program. Ever since I had problems access ing secured sites I've been no longer able to update my protection. Also have Xoftspy which can't update any longer. I presume this is linked to the same problem.
Should I not use the Registry fix program then ???

I've installed Fire fox and AntiVir Personal Edition v7.0.
Still can't access secured sites in FireFox. Both these programs show a message saying "No connection to the Internet could be produced"

Hopefully,by this date, you have found your way to better internat usage
Otherwise, save everything on your computer that is important to you. Then re-format your HD and re-load your programs.
Something is not right with your computer. I do not know what tho. It could be a virus that has shut down your protection programs and taken over browsers.
Best of luck.

Also check your firewall settings as Auslander said earlier, in particular make sure tcp port 443 is permitted since that is the default port for https. Normal web pages load over port 80, but secured pages over 443.
