I'm very new here but when I yahoo search problems, this forum comes up a lot of the time and i haven't quite found my same problem here...so here it goes

i got the hp 200j dvd+burner with my pc when i bought it some 2 years ago. i have never been able to burn dvds and i searched over summer for some tips or solutions and i found other forums with people that said that their 200j never worked...so that upsets me that hp could sell faulty crap to customers

anyway, more recently i've been getting cyclic redundancy check errors and i've tried updating my drivers and such to fix the problems but wherever i find the patch it won't let me install - it says i need my original burning software (hp recordnow or cdnow or something)

needless to say, i reformatted my computer right when i got it because i don't want hp crap cluttering my HD and do not have that software and have never used it. does anyone know where i can find un-encumbered drivers for this crap burner?
