What are you using as the subtitle renderer and what is your CPU usage?

WMP only supports smi subs though. For srt's, etc. you must be using a 3rd party subtitle renderer like directvobsub (VSFilter), directvobsub (old vobsub), ffdshow, divxG400, etc.
You didn't answer the question of CPU usage either. What is the CPU load with and without subs?

I have the installed the 3rd party software. After installing those software, i just play the movie as normal right?
CPU usage. I did not turn on any other software while running the movie therefore i dont think the CPU usage is high. Is there a way to check the CPU usage?

It means that your CPU is maxed out. That is why you have playback issues. Now if the CPU usage is a lot lower without subs, then it means something is wrong rendering the subs. Now if it is close to 100% without subs, it means that your rig is under powered.
Try mplayer or VLC. Either should require less CPU than WMP.
