RWs can be rewriten over again and again...... where the -Rs or the +Rs can only be writen once! Depending on the brand of media used will record better or worce. We are not talking about quality of video..... but more like quality of the recording process, which will determane how long it will last, avoid skipping or freezings and also pixilations! the Quality of video will be deterimined by the quality of the video that you have to record and the compression programs used and the burning programs used!

Ihoe - I fully understand the ability to reuse the disc what I'm more confused with is most of the postings on this site/forum are by people using plain old +R or -R disc's. Why do they not use +/-RW ?

I guess the cost of the discs are a little more and you can get better quality discs cheaper and will play better in most players. Most members want to keep what they record so there isn't any posibility of accidental erasure.

In basic terms, older stand alone players will not play DVD-R/W or DVD+R/W media correctly. The use of DVD-R media offers the highest playback compatibility on the widest range of equipment.

The plus format is more compatible with the newer players.
