I'm looking to buy some DVD-R's and would like to buy the Verbatim TY's but they're out of stock at svp.co.uk.

What other discs do you recommend from svp.co.uk that are decent.

I'm mainly going to be using them to backup a few of my ps2 games. I've got philips C-16 at the moment and they can skip now and then. I've heard Ritek G04 are good for ps2 but im no expert and would like some advice really on which discs to get. I know the TY 100pk is in stock but i'm never going to use 100, I'm looking for 25 - 50.

I found these so far, what do you think?

These are the same dye/speed as the Verbatim Taiyo Yuden.

TYG02 DVD-R X8

**The panasonic's which you just listed are the same dye/speed, also.

If you don't want to buy a large amount

Thanks for your reply ashj.

After having a good browser I think I'll go for the panasonics - http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=843

They have a good review on videohelp.com and as you stated they seem to be authentic TY's. Hopefully my ps2 should read them fine.

Thanks

i dont know if TY makes those discs.. i'm pretty sure doc will confirm that for you..

when you get the discs.. post the inner hub reading on the disc. should start with a "G".. doc can give you more details on that..

but just because it says "ADVDInfo: TYG02" on the site.. doesnt mean they really are. although i know they ship authentic ty's..

Possible I suppose,

I've never used the Panasonic's myself.

Though the two disc's I buy from SVP both code out to TY.

DVD-R X8 GG000110

DVD+R X16 TH001333,

they are to my knowledge a very reputable company.

Though I can't vouch for the Panasonic's.

**Thanks for the update A_T

Yeah it would be good if doc could confirm if the panasonics are real TY's.

All I want is 25 - 50 original TY's or the Verbatim TY's :( , but here in UK I can only get them in packs of 100 (too many for me really) or other brands which advertise as being TY, like Panasonic and the DataSafe ones ashj found.

Should I wait to check to see if these panasonics are the real thing before buying?

*Ok thanks A_T for that.

where did you get these numbers?
the ty's only have the "G" numbers on the inner hub.
did you code these out with dvd info pro or with DVD Decrypter? this would clear everything up

I was hoping people would recognise it when I did a quick copy paste.

Very accurate info, ofcourse i submitted the DVDINFO Pro media code .png to accompany it.

Kudos, Ash

***PS you should copyright it, think of the royalties ^ ^

no harm, no foul~ ur a good guy in my book, i didn't mean to IMPLY you were not actually "quoting" me from my thread if that is how you took it, that was not my intention; i've just noticed a LOT of people in other threads quote me WORD FOR WORD, yet they don't acknowledge WHERE they got the info, yet they use my EXACT phrases/posts as if it were their own~ :) (this wasn't directed at you ashj, sorry if it seemed that way)

as to the copyright thing, if you know the details as to HOW i could get it done/accomplished, i'm ALL ears~ :) teach and learn buddy, have a good one~

Nah m8,

your one of the best peeps to quote, just when I was asked about those media codes, I thought well i could go get proof on net (no one would take my word for it ,heh) and do the DVDINFO pro .png.

But I just decided why bother with the net, when I can quote you, :))

cheers ashj
