see if this helps you from the archives of AD:

I've noticed that there are a lot of people with questions about karaoke cd's and how to make dvd's and vcd's out of karaoke files. This guide will cover how to rip cd+g and how to convert it to VCD or Dvd.

You will need:
Audiograbber
TMPGEnc (latest version)
Windows Media Player
Karaoke plugin for windows media player (found at link provided)http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=89149

It is very simple to rip the music and text from a cd+g.
Open Audiograbber
Leave a check mark next to the songs you want.
Select Settings
General Settings
Select the directory to store your files in. Its at the top. You can change it to your desired location or just make note of where the files will be going.
You may want to name the songs before you rip them. (From the cd they will just be numbers)
To do this right click on the song and select rename. Then type in the new name. The click away.
After that is done. Click on CD.
Click Grab CDG tracks (karaoke).
Click Grab to .cdg + .wav
A screen will popup and tell you the status of your rip.

You may want to at this point check that the .cdg + .wav files work properly. You must play the file in Windows Media Player. To do that you have to install the karaoke plugin first. When you go to play the .bin file Windows Media Player will say the extension is not recognized. Just tell it to play anyway.

The next step is to convert the bin file into a mpg.
Make sure the karaoke plugin is installed and working.
Now open TMPGEnc.
If your in the Wizard just hit cancel.
Click on Options
Click Environment Settings.
Enable Multiplex ...
Select the table along the top that says VFAPI Plugin.
DirectShow Multimedia File Reader needs to be at the top of the list.
To move it right click on it and select higher priority. Repeat until DirectShow is at the top.
Now click on File
Select Project Wizard.
Now select either the Dvd or VCD templete. In either NTSC or PAL.
Now select your .cdg file as your video. To do this the file type will have to be changed to all files. Your audio will be selected automatically. Press next. Then press ok. The conversion for each song should take about 5 to 10 minutes per song. That also depends on your processing power and version of TMPGEnc.
Now it is in a format that you can easily burn to a dvd or VCD that is playable in your dvd player.

Thank you, Andmerr. This will work for old Karaoke media. I think Karaoke DVD has MPEG-2 format, so your suggestion will not work. Through extensive reading, this is what I found:
1) I can use SmartRip to rip the Karaoke songs from the DVD song by song (chapter by chapter). But SmartRip is no longer available. If anyone who has info on this s/w, please post. I'm deeply appreciated. If I can't find SmartRip at all, please suggest an alternate software that I can rip the songs from DVD.
2) I need to know the software to allow me to create the menu for the song titles so when I push the menu button on the DVD remote control it will show the menu for the song titles, and I can use the arrow key to scroll through the menu and select the song I want to play
3) I know that I can use Nero version 6.6.0.18 (which is very reliable from what I read) and use "nero burning rom" to burn the selected songs to the blanked Sony DVD disc.

So please help me with item 1 and 2. Many thanks for those experts who are willing to give a helping hands

I did a full Karaoke DVD backup a few days ago (for a friend) with only DVD Decrypter.

You could probably rip the entire DVD to HDD first using DVDD in file mode with all files selected and then open in Nero Vision and create your titles and menus. Haven't tried it but it should work.

Smartripper and DVD Decrypter are under ripping tools here: http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/sr.htm

I read the Nero ExpressVision user manual and see that it allow me to create the main menu for the song titles. But it doesn't allow dual-layer DVD disc (8.5GByte). I want to create my own Karaoke DVD using dual-layer DVD so I can store more songs. How do I get around this problem? Thanks for helping.
