Im having real trouble downgrading from 2.0
i had originally 1.5 when i got my psp and then i upgaded then i downgraded and then i upgraded. now i want to downgrade again. i put all the files into the right folders and then when i go to the overflow.tif it crashes, but not the way it is supposed to. it crashes before i can even scroll down the the overflow.tif icon then it resets.

yeah i know that your meant to scroll down but it kept freezing. I have solved the problem now. thank you for helping me! :) turns out that the index and the other file were inside the psp folder and not on the root of the drive and they are the files that allow you to scroll down to the overflow.tif file.
Thankyou again.

Hi All,
I have a PSP1007 which has firmware v1.51. I have updated to V2.0 and have successfully ran the overflow.tiff file with the necessary files on the root of the memory stick. My PSP reports it is at V1.00, however when I run the 1.50 update from my memory stick I get a error message ?The game could not be started (80020148). Has anyone else had the same problem, or know how to get around this problem.
Any help guys would be great.

Are you sure you got the right firmware? make sure it is for your region
Make sure your UPDATE folder is in PSP\GAME and inside that folder your Eboot is named correctly.

Piecefull,
I have obtained many eboot 1.50 files from various web sites.
And i have placed the EBOOT.PBP in the following folder X:\PSP\GAME\UPDATE\.
When you say have you got the right firmware, are you talking about the V2.0 firmware which i have upgraded to?

Thanks for the reply, i tried pspearth.com as you suggested but still no joy, with the V1.5 update.
I tried to upgrade back to V2.00 after finding an eboot.pbp V2.0 file, but i still get the same error message. It would appear that my PSP will not run any firmware updates from the memory card.
I then tried to update back to v2.00 from a UMD with contained V2.00 update and this worked at treat.
I am confused as ever.

"do you have a jap or us version of psp?" -Jalathole
answer that question man, its the answer we need to be able to help you.
When i talk about right firmware i mean any firmware you had to d/l eg If your psp is US bought in America then youd need the 1.5 US eboot, the 1.5 Jap will NOT run and give you an error like what you are getting! and Vice versa.

Did you get the firmware here?
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/4 if not try it and see how it goes.
If you still get same error, go to system settings, and restore default settings,

Thanks for that, i have got the files from there and tried it. I get a differnet error message this time;
The update cannot be started the data is corrupted.
I have downloaded the eboot twice just in case the file was damaged, but still the same error message.
I also have reset the system systems as well, but had no effect.
I really appreciate your help. Many Thanks.

I did extract it, and placed the file EBOOT.PBP file (the one from the link you provided) in the \PSP\GAME\UPDATE folder, i can select it and run it. But about 15-20 seconds after i have run it the error message appears.
The folder names are all CAPS, inc the UPDATE folder which i had to create.
