I was trying to burn (8 Mile) and I came up with the following error:

Invalid DVD Navigation Structure

Overlapped I/O operation is in progress

Any idea what this means and how to overcome it?

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Rip to HDD first using DVD Decrypter in file mode and select all files. When DVDD is done doing it's thing, open DVD Shrink and continue as usual, insert still image in unreferenced material or just do a movie backup only using Reauthor mode.

I don't have the ability to follow your instructions. Everytime I have tried to download DVD Decrypter is has crashed my computer. Do you have any other suggestions? I also have AnyDVD running in the background.

To get rid of the overlapped i/o error, go to shrink preferences file I/O tab and un-check enable overlapped I/O.
Here is the thread where i found that happening to me:

Boy this one got away from me somehow....

In addition to Max's suggestions, try to rip to HDD using DVDFab Decrypter, then use DVD Shrink. If you get no joy with that method, process the VIDEO_TS folder created by DVDFab Decrypter in VobBlanker, then DVD Shrink as usual...doubt if you will have to do this though.

DVDFab Decrypter and VobBlanker can be found here: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/software.htm

Both are free programs, and not very difficult to use.
