I was wondering if someone with knowledge about burned DVD deterioration can start a thread regarding this issue. It seems like a very important subject, but with relatively little said. Both single and dual layer info would be insightful.

I'm using Ritek (Ritek-D01-01) and Verbatim (MKM-001) +R dual layers. I was going to get some more Ritek, but stopped when a buyer from New Egg warned that they deteriorate after 6 months. Can anyone confirm this?

Just so I'm clear: your Ritek DVD+R dual layer, RITEK-D01-01, still work 6 months after burning? (I wanted to make sure you weren't talking about Verbatims.)

Also, the layer break still work fine?

i have well over 100 Ridata Ritek DVD+R DL with the RitekD01 coding that have lasted well over 6 months, you have to remember when reading ANY "feedback/opinions" from various websites that sell media, SOMETIMES the people leaving the feedback have no idea what they are doing, especially on DL media...often times they are just starting out on DL media burns and have not got the burning process down correctly, so, naturally, they blame the media as being poor because they can't burn onto the RitekD01 correctly/properly~ :)

as to problems with the layer break, not just on RitekD01, but the Verbatim DVD+R DLs also, most people that DO have issues are because they are using Nero to burn~ i too have had problems with the 2nd layer break when i first started using DL media...use DVD Decrypter ISO read---ISO write/imgburn to burn and it's worked wonders...

take some of the comments regarding a particular brand of media with a grain of salt, not EVERYONE who "tries" to burn to DL media will be successful, far too many factors involved to specifically state WHAT caused the "expensive coaster"...know what you are doing before you begin, experiment some and see what works BEST ON YOUR INDIVIDUAL setup before putting the blame on media...some drives/burners burn to DL "better" than others and some drives appreciate certain DLs "better" than others... :) (ie. my Benq dw-1640 does not like the RitekD01s, but my Liteon SOHW-1633S & SOHW-1693S/Sony dru-710a/Pioneer dvr-109 have NO PROBLEMS whatsoever with RiteksD01s; the Benq's prefer the Verbatims and i will safely say that i PERSONALLY think the Verbatims DVD+R DLs are THE BEST on the market at this point in time...
