I need to know bwfore I open the cakebox. Yes I can check the disc with Plextools but I don't know if Bestbuy would take an opened DVD package back if it was some awful company who manufactured the disc for Verbatim. Please tell me if you know the info...

I'll agree with Doc Ty. Those singapore made verb +DL media is about the best DL media there is!

I must Totally Agree with docTY~ & saugmon about Verbatim DVD+R DL Made in Singapore. I'll even go as far as saying that these ARE The Best Dual Layer Media made at this time. Bar None.
Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

I've burned 3 of them so far & no coasters! These discs are great!!!
If I need a DL disc (instead of a single later one) Verbs is what I'll use...

I been using these for a couple of weeks , now. The only coasters I made are when I was writing too fast. Now that I,m only using 1X, They all write and are excellent.

I used the Verbatim +R-DL also without flaw or failure thus far. I notice SONY's Dual Layer disc are also made in Singapore. This seems to be the place for quality dual layer media.

I haven't seen any sony DL media yet. Only verbatim, memosux, and fuji.
If they are made in singapore,I'll bet they are made by mitsubishi chemical corp. I'd risk trying them if the price was right.

Here is a list of ALL the DL media that I've tried out, so far:
Verbatim +R 2.4x (burns at 8x easily)
MKM001
Imation +R 2.4x (Verbatim clone)
MKM001
Philips +R 2.4x (Verbatim clone)
MKM001
Ridata +R 2.4x
RitekD01
Ritek +R 2.4x
RitekD01
Fuji +R 2.4x
RicohjpnD00
TDK +R 2.4x
RicohjpnD00
Memorex +R 2.4x
PhillipsCD2
Datawrite +R 2.4x
CMCMagD01
Ratings:
1- MKM001
2- PhilipsCD2
3- RitekD01
4- CMCMagD01
99- RicohjpnD00 (due to the fact that on a total of five burners I only had 4 good burns out of 25 discs)
and
Verbatim -R 4x (will burn at 8x very well)
MKM01RD30
Memorex -R 4x (burns better at 6x than at 4x)
CMCMagAD4
Ratings:
MKM01RD30 (100% success rate)
CMCMagAD4 (100% success rate) surprisingly good results
Note: as far as CMCMag media goes, the DL is far superior to the single layer crapola
Note: Memorex +R DL is far superior to it's single layer trash and I would rate it as better than Ritek (at least in my BenQ, LiteOn and HP burners)

uh, NO THANKS~ i'll pass...much too rich for my blood~ :)
i don't care WHO makes them, just to have "sony" on top, totally NOT worth it, if they end up being made by Mitsubishi Kaguku Media (MKM) then great~!, but for that price, get the Verbatim DVD+R DLs for about $2/pop when on sale...sheesh....

kivory666- Rx for me too doc ! still waiting for the DL prices to come down a lil' more ! But then I'm still waiting for the price of gas to comeback down to 1.35 a gallon too ! I guess in the mental olympics I place in all two medals = Stupid & cheap LOL! But I have to buy gas ! Perhaps when gas gets cheaper I can afford Dl media !LOL! can afford it now pn sale of course but I hate the idea of a $2.00 coaster - If I'm burning a quality single layer disc and I goof I'm out .30 to .50 cents or so . Big difference ! I know what i'm doing most of the time but there's always human error ! anyways thanks for you esteemed media opinions again doc Peace!
