I've been having a problem with nero when I try to burn VOB files. I burn it and some times the video skips? I've tried nero 7 and nero 6 and both do the same thing I also have a Divx dvdplayer and when I burn AVI files, it does the samething? Why is it doing this? If someone can help me, I would be most grateful

I have a LG exteral dvd drive and hook it up through USB 1.0 (don't have USB 2.0) on my pc. My PC is a 2002 model packard bell.

Please someone help:)

Thank you

What brand of media are you using and what is your burn speed?

I'm using Verbatim , Datawrite & Philips. It does it on all 3?

Could it be because I only have USB 1.0? or maybe it's the burner itself? I don't know?

most likely it is the dvd's that are causing the problem. or you are burning at to high a speed. i recommend using 4x speed with -r discs and 6x with +r disc provided we are talking about at least 8x media. with +r and if your burner supports it try switching the book type to dvd-rom.

you could try making sure your firmware for your burner is up to date as well. the firmware holds write strategies for different media types and manufacturers. if the dvds your using isnt in the firmware it will revert to a generic strategy.

edit- you added your media before i could get my post on. if its doing it on all three then thats probably not the problem. try posting a log from nero.

How do I find my log?

its in your Nero directory. usually c-program files-Nero-nero 7-core, then look for Nero history.log file. open it with notepad and copy the text from your last burn and paste it on your next reply.

You can find your Nero log here

Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt

Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.txt

I dont think posting a Nero log will locate your problems but there are a few things you should address
Quote:
Nero Version: 6.6.0.15
I would update yor Nero to this version

To burn consistently and successful it is recommended you have at least 512meg RAM, I would suggest adding another 256meg, in the meantime dont multitask.

Nothing wrong with your media choice

Unless you are using Really good media I would reset the target to 4300, you are burning too close to the edge of the disc.

As I said I dont think this will prevent your Skipping but these matters need attention.

It is not always necessary to set burn target to 4300, if you are using good quality discs theres no problems normally. If you do burn past the 4300 to 4360 mark you will notice some skipping or distortion but only towards the very end of the disc.

I think the fact you only have USB1 & not USB2 could also be a problem, the data cannot be transferred fast enough, so it will not be smooth as USB2. Could you not get a USB2 card?
