so I download this windows media player classic and it give me
some strange error like:

like this means something to me.
so I search the net for an answer. I read something about, ffdshow, and codecs, but after I install ffdsshow, nothing seems to happen, I click on the new entry ffdsshow configuration, and who knows what this means.
but that is a bunch of gobeldy gook, and ffdsshow no matter what I click doesn't change a thing with WMP classic,...
what is going on? why is this so complicated? I just want to see a video. can someone explain, from beginning to end, what I have to do to see this video? I went to quicktime, thats a 35mb???? player piece of bloatware. that's ridiculous.
I don't want libraries and playlists, and skins, and all this junk, just a simple player that works, File--> Open. and a play button.
Well since it is parsing the mp4 correctly, you either have a newer MPC build or are using a 3rd party splitter like Haali's.
5634504D = MP4V so you just need to have a decoder like FFDShow installed and enabled to handle mp4v and it will work.
Sorry, but to me VLC seems crap compared to MPC. I just don't like VLC. For a player that plays practically everything, I prefer mplayer. Plays everything that VLC can, excluding DVD menus, plus more since it can make use of dll/ax's to decode propriatary formats like Real Video.
I have used Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, Nero Media Player, and others. I have found that Cyberlink's Power DVD is easier and more dependable with good quality playback. I believe it's only about $15 as well.
