Hopefully, I've made it to the right place

OS - WinXP Pro SP2
CPU - AMD 3200+ (64 Bit)
RAM - 1GB
80GB Sata HD (approx. 55GB Free)
DVD Burner - NEC 3520 (Just updated firmware to 3.07 last night) Only had this drive for about 3-4 months, and just started recently into burning DVDs.
Software - DVDecrypter/DVDFab/DVD Shrink/Nero 6

Ok, here goes, hopefully I can explain this. Does it matter if my DVD Burner is setup as the slave drive? Its taking quite awhile to decrypt/encode/even straight copy DVDs. Last night for instance, it took me an hour and a half just to encode/burn a DVD. Usually was taking around 35 minutes for that process (prior to the firmware upgrade). With my system specs, that seems that is a little slow as well (maybe Im wrong there, as Im completely new to this).

Usually, I use DVDecrypter and decrypt to my hard drive. Then I open DVD Shrink and reauthor and burn to DVD using Nero. I was reading about how I should check my IDE Primary/Secondary(from this site) to make sure its set to DMA. Well, my Primary says DMA if available and my Secondary says DMA Ultra 2 or something like that. Tried uninstalling/re-installing them and also unistalled/reinstalled my DVD Drive. Still comes up with the same settings. Would changing my DVD Drive to the master drive help anything, or is there something else I need to check?

I havent had a failed burn, just seems to take forever. I have been looking the last few days on this site, searching and reading posts. If you need more info, just let me know.....I will do my best to get you what you need.

Few more points.....opened up Nero and selected the drivespeed utility. It shows my DVD Burner as having a max read speed of 6X? Whenever Im doing the decrypt process, it shows it reading at 2-3X. On a good day, I get maybe 5X. I guess that would be the problem, but what can I do to make it see that it has a higher read rate? I burn everything at 2X, so I understand why that part of the process takes longer. Its still taking me around 45 minutes before I even get to the point where I can burn.

Phew....I think Im done :)

Post a Nero log file.

It will help a lot.

We might be able to figure something out. As far as the drives master/slave issue, I had not heard of that ever being a issue. Could be wrong, so post that log! K?
