i have been maken dvd movie's and backing up for a while now but all of a sudden every time i start to make a dvd movie with nero i get an error near the end. i start by maken the movie compatable with a dvd to a vob file all goes ok there check the movie it play's ok then i open nero to burn the file do everything i need to do set to a slow setting do all the other stuff needed then i click burn it's starts doing it ok but as it's burning the drive keep's opening and closeing on it's own then it get's near the end the drive open's and stay's open till i close it then it just come's up error it does save a log but i dont understand any of it is there any way anyone can help me i have updated as much as i can

you have the log file can you display it for us to get deciphered.
Also what do you use to encode your files to mpeg2

you are burning to the outer limits of the disc where the dye is the most unevenest and this area is where a lot of errors occur.
You should try to burn to only 4300meg.

When you download files from the net they are generally in an avi format or other such formats but for you to burn them to disc and then play them in a standalone dvd player they need to be configured or encoded to an mpeg2 format before nero in this case can recognise them and then burn them to disc
