Which program is better for higher compressions? I have DVDDecrpyter, AnyDVD andI can get any other program I need. I normally use DVDShrink, but I read on here somewhere, that CLONEDVD2 was better. I'm about to redo a large part of my collection and I want ot amke sure I'm using the best this time around.

A lot of people would agree that DVD Rebuilder, and CCE are at the top for best quality...CloneDVD2 is great as well, I personally use DVD Shrink, and Nero recode, but yeah...

Here is/are what I prefer, from my own experiences. Yes, I've used them all and I should know because I owned a 55" Widescreen SONY HDTV Hi-Scan 1080i.

<1> DVD Rebuilder Pro + CCE SP
<2> Nero Recode 2 "AA + HQSR + Assign best Quality to Main Movie"
<3> DVD Shrink "DA + AEC: Max Sharpness"

Alkohol,

You use max sharpness in Shrink? I've noticed on some movies it doesn't look too great. The only ones coming to mind right now are wrestling DVDs. Otherwise, I use max smoothness.

Headcase,

I agree with Alkohol, DVD Rebuilder will probably produce the best results (quality/picture wise), I know, I have it, but it does take an enormous time. I did one recently with it and it took 330 minutes!

No matter what is stated here, remember, as long as it's being compressed, quality will be lost.

Quality wise, DVD-RB is probably the best. But I normally use Shrink with DA and AEC.

There's really no comparison for compressing large movies. DVD Shrink is a transcoder while DVD Rebuilder can encode the movie. But with the CCE SP price tag being nearly $2K, I will stick with DVD Shrink for lightly compressed movies and Verbatim DL media for those movies that would require too much compression.
