Does the Shapie ink get absorbed too deep into the disk?

I have been using sharpies for a while, but I am beginning to wonder if it is a good idea. Some of the disks have playback problems, and worse is that I can't make another copy because I get sector errors. DVD players will sputter for a second or two and then continue, but making another back up is SOL.

Thx... I don't label with a sharpie until after I burn and verify using Nero. If sharpies don't bleed through and corrupt the data, then its scratchs or the meida is starting to fail after a short period of time. I have read somewhere that some brands may burn and verify fine, but after a few weeks or months, the disks start to fail. I tend to use high profile brands such as TDK, but hell who knows where they are buying their disk form if they don't manufacture the DVD themselves.

nrnoble hi :)
TDK are'nt the best by any means
i'd suggest Verbatim... Ty's or Ritek (nonprintable Ritek at the mo)
down load dvdidentifier from the link in my sig (free) that will give all the info you need on the disc

I've had good luck with TDK -Rs but +Rs generally code as CMCs which are not very good at all. Do try TYs or Verbs and use 4X burn speed and you will be much happier with the results.....
