I'm reading things about 'bookmarked' DVDs.

What is it?

How can I do it?

What are the advantages of bookmarking over not?

Thank you.

I am assuming you mean booktyping/bitsetting. Which is when using a +R DVD media your drive will booktype/bitset it to DVD-Rom for better playback on standalone players. Many older DVD players will not play +R media and must be fooled into thinking that the disk is -R media. Booktyping/bitsetting will do this, but only if your drive supports the feature. Here is an article that explains

Book typing will solve your problems and or issues with older stand alone DVD players when using DVD+R, DVD+RW and DVD+R DL disc.

Yes, I'm a DVD+R person and "book typing" them into DVD-ROM. So far, all of my stand alone DVD players never had any playback issues. All worked flawlessly.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

I agree, have an old Toshiba that plays nothing but -R and all my booktyped +R's play and play well much better than the -R's.
