ok i know that it is verbatim dvd=r 16x...and the only other #'s i see are zd5156-dvr-t487d and unfortinately i dont have the original wrapping is the any way to figure out what the medie source code is so i know the exact compatibility...thanks for any help you might be able to provide

both - & + verbs are good media, if you have Nero you can get the mid code using the cd dvd speed tools.use the Nero info tool.

another option is using dvd identifier, found here:

or dvdinfopro...many ways to find the MID coding on your disc~ :)

Impossible to tell the exact manufacturer, their ID,and batch number by looking at the wrapper. You can get closer by looking where that spindle was manufactured at like Made in Japan or Made in Taiwan.

Object: Try to find the spindles made in Japan on the sony/fuji/and maxell brand names. Verbatim will usually be made in taiwan/singapore/some in taiwan/and some verbatim tys in japan.

You gotta use a program like:
Nero infotool
Dvdidentifier
Dvdinfopro
Some dvd ripping and burning programs like dvd decrypter

I go by the manufacturers like Taiyo Yuden-Ty or Yuden/Mitsubishi chemical corp-MCC,Ritek,Hitachi-Maxell,Ricohjpn,Sony-D/0.

Most other manufacturers like CMC/UME/AML/Prodisc/ and a ton of others: Avoid like the plague!
