Went to BB, they had (fuji) (100) pack for (29.99) they checked out as (Taiyo Yuden Co Ltd) (yuden000) (to2), they were made in Taiwan,Would like to know, are these the same as the Sony& Taiyo`s that say MIJ.Are they OK or what?
Thank You

Andy

uhm...there is definitely something wrong with this picture you painted on here:

1. if the MID coding on them when run through dvd identifier/dvdinfopro/nero/dvd decrypter = YUDEN000T02, then you got the Taiyo Yuden made 8x DVD+R media, HOWEVER, these will NOT BE MADE IN TAIWAN!

2. also, check on the silver part near the hub, you SHOULD see something along the lines of TG000xxx where xxx is the batch number to verify these are authentic TYs, if not, then you don't have the YUDEN000T02s as claimed...

3. TYs = made in japan, no way this could be a "made in taiwan" spindle and you got taiyo yudens...

something is wrong here...let me know

@kivory666, OK here is what I am saying. On the wraper paper on the (100) pack of Fuji under the bar code it says made in Taiwan,When I run it on dvd-Identifer it says (Taiyo Yuden Co Ltd). After reading you request. I looked and they read TGOO1158,near the Hub, now don`t forget it was only on the wrapper that said Made in Taiwan, hope this helps you out. Now that I know they are TYS,I am going back and get a couple more packs...
Thanks
Andy

well, that is def. a NEW ONE to me...but, hey, i'm not doubting you, you post it as you see it~ :)

you def. got some Taiyo Yudens there, so no worries in that regards...but, for you to go out and pick up MORE of the "made in taiwans" i wouldn't be so sure of getting TYs on them all the time...

whether this is a "made in xxx" mistake or not, you got the good end of the stick sorta speak...

i have YET to hear anyone else report that they got Taiyo Yudens under a "made in taiwan" on the wrapper spindle, regardless of brand name (ie. Fuji, Sony, Maxell, Tdk, etc)...this is NOT supposed to hold true...whether it's a "marketing" mistake or a label mistake, just know, that GENUINE Taiyo Yudens are ONLY made in japan, not in taiwan...there is NO exception to that rule...how you managed to get TYs in a specifically "made in taiwan" labelled spindle, is beyond me~ :)

good luck w/ ur next batch...i hope your luck prevails for you and you get your hands on more TYs~

@kivory666,
After sending you the last note,I looked on the top of the Fuji dics and it read, made in japan on the top of the dics.

heheh..then it boils down to the actual cakebox (spindle-wrapper) being mislabelled~ :0

if it says "made in japan" ON THE DISC itself, it is the Taiyo Yudens as you first reported on...the inner hub reading gave it away too~ :) no worries, you got some GENUINE TYs right there in your hands...when you go back to the store, if you can see the "made in japan" ON THE DISCS THEMSELVES, like you just mentioned, grab those up as they will be TYs also~ :) (assuming you stick with the Fuji brand) :)

good luck

Yep, I went to BB looking for those MIJ Fuji's. None of them were there.

While I do believe this person did pick up TYs in a MIT Fuji spindle, there might be a difference, or a way to tell (if you can't read the MIJ tag on the actual disc itself).

What color was the plastic labeling on the cakebox? Was it the new gray/silver ones or the old blue ones?

I know around here the blue batches are MIJ's and the gray ones are MITs--which is why I didn't buy it. The only ones available here are the silver MITs.

The only ones available at my two BB's are the MIT. Have not been able to find any MIJ's in months in my area.

Went off to the BB and picked up 100 pack of the Fuji's which to my surprise were 16x. They are coding out as Prodisc R05 not the greatest but am using them for the gkids backups so they are okay for that. Burned a few and the Plex seemed to like them also my players.

My nephew has destroyed many of the movies I made for him...I don't use top notch media for that kid. You can't tell the differece on a portable DVD player anyway...well his atleast O.o

hi,

checked local Best Buy all were mit. you can see made mit on the disc at the bottom of the top side of the disc. the way the top of the cake box is made you can see mit printed on the disc.

I've always used Sony disks from Best Buy (seem to catch them on sale alot) and I haven't had a coaster for at least 150 backups. The only other disk I've tried was Memorex, and I don't want to talk about that (23 of 50 were coasters). I was just looking at the BB ad and came here to check on Fuji's quality but I'm not sure what your debate means.

If I get to my local Best Buy and the disks say MIT, should I still buy them? Right now they're $14.99 for 50 and I'm completely out of +R's.
