Heres a GREAT guide for adjusting your laser in EASY to follow instructions with pictures!!!
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/303681
SCROLL DOWN to a tiny bit past halfway. Look for when the program pictures are gone and you see pics of a PS2. Thats where it begins. This guide saved my PS@ from the trashcan. It now loads games as fast as a new ps2!!! So give it a try!

What's the version of ps2 that won't play the games the others will? and what versions are the ones that will play the games? and what media are you using DVD-R or DVD+R? and what brand and media code?

First, I got all original games, but i have a Modchip installed in my ps2 (DM64 pro), it reads all my games smoothly before, but after 5 years... it start to selecting games on its own that would boot on it... does it only need a laser adjustments? or i need to change the ribbons? I've already got the guide, but I haven't tried it... (The one you sent me [the link])

Ahh I see, these are not backup games you are having problems with...
As to what dvd media you should use, if you tell me what versions your ps2s are then I can give you some idea.

ah okay hehe, well the one that is having a problem is a v9... 39001 model. I'm still having problems right now, but I i didn't bought any slim types (and ever) cause i think that the bulk type is more durable than the slim type, so i don't know why sony doesn't put the bulk type on the market anymore... that's a spoiler ofcourse...

anyway... Is putting a isprophyl alcohol on the lens is safe? cause my Dreamcast got busted on that. anyway the way any guide describe that it should be used then it is safe for the lens right? Also, what is a can of compressed air? do i really need that? or is it for blowing the dusts inside the ps2?

the compressed air is for blowing out any dust, dirt or hair inside the console. Do you need it, no. But it is cheap and surely would not hurt to do every once in a while. You can get it and most computer stores and electronics stores.
Whatever type of alcohol the guides suggest i am sure are safe as many people have used the guides to clean their lenses. If it was not you would see a lot of posts about it here.
Also if you have a DMS4 Pro chip, do you update the ToxicOS on it?
If not you should do that for sure.

How do I update it? and what is it for? also I having another problem... I've carefully followed the instructions of the guide, and all of my original CD, PSX Games, and PS2 Games (not backups) are working, so I lend a backup game (GT4) from my friend and some other games that he has to know if my Modchip is working, but all of them didn't. I need help from it. Can anyone suggest an possible thing happening from it? Thanks
