I am going to buy a new internal DVD Burner and some new (GOOD) DVD media. I need suggestions for what I should get.

Keep in mind I'll only be burning 700MBish AVI files with NeroVision Express so something that meets those standards and not a whole lot more is fine. I'm also looking for cheap (but GOOD) DVD media. If anyone's got any good reccommendations... I would prefer to buy the DVD burner from newegg.com and the DVD-R media for somewhere that you all know or trust.

Thanks :)

My recommendations:

1) Burners -- In my opinion, the best burners tend to be those offered up by NEC and by Pioneer. Both can be found on NewEgg.com.

For Pioneer, check out the DVR-610 series:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Submit=ENE&N=201010...

For NEC, check out the 3550A models:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Submit=ENE&N=201010...

====

2. Media:

For quality media... FIRST, check out your players, and see whether you are limited to using only DVD-R or DVD+R discs. Find out what they can handle.

The best quality tends to be either Taiyo Yuden discs, or the Verbatim discs. You are safest if you purchase these from either:

www.rima.com

or

www.supermediastore.com

or

www.newegg.com

Hope that this helps...

I have a Sony DVD+/-RW (Single Layer) and a Pioneer Dual Layer and have had good luck with both of them. I use Ritek/Ridata Discs I purchase from www.allmediaoutlet.com and of course there have been a few coasters, but overall they work and play great

Verbs are the best but I would recommend using the dvd+ since they can be bookmarked to dvdrom which is the most compatible way you can go. Also the nec is a good drive and I own one but while you are on newegg check out the benq 1655. I love mine and I have 11 drives of all kinds so you might say I know what is good. Good luck

I'm sure you have been getting many suggestions, but I will give you my opinion. Here are a few things I've learned. When buying from Newegg, depending on the burner you buy, the firmware may have to be flashed and you may have to update to a newer version of the firmware. Not a real difficult task, but a nuisance none the less. I recommend the Samsung burners if your looking for something good but inexpensive and Plextors or NECs if you don't mind spending just a little extra.

As far as DVDs go, I buy mine from my nearest Sams Club. I get 100pk of Verbatim 8x DVD+Rs for $29 plus tax. Never had a problem with Verbatims, good quality and good price. Hope this helps!
