ok, so i thought it was great when i starting burning all of my shows onto DVD (in normal data form, no future plan to play them on any dvd player). They are Maxell brand and they looked pretty cool and they were at a real good price (should have known).I use a LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1693S Drive. It stayed that way untill i started looking into what a good copy has to look like. So now i have alot of data on these dics and have have gotten some results wich i think aren't good at all. I have checked one cd and i thought it didn't look from what i have seen from fake TY's.

I remeber i always burn and still brows the web, listen to music ...etc. I thought maybe this was the reason these results were met. I reburned it (nero) but i feel asleep before it was done (it was left inside the drive for no more than 2-3 hours).

I would have finished the second test but the cd froze, no CRC errors somwhow though.
So is it i have bad media or am i burning the wrong way?

....ahh the mystical world of Media.

Bad batches, drive likes/does'nt like media, three prayers before bedtime.

Try a few (sample pack) or check here for best media for your burner............

A bad idea to multi task when burning , esp browsing.

Shut down all un-needed programs when burning.

Check your DMA is on.

Defragment your hard drive.

You'd need to post your burn log for detailed info, to see if your drive recognises the media etc

Well its certainly a big improvemnt over two zero's.

A score of 90 is respectable.

For decent results you need to make sure you free as much system memory as possible.

Update your Nero ver.

http://www.nero.com/nero6/eng/nero-up.php

I personally don't install InCd (package 3) as it is know to cause problems.

The best media for your drive? well I don't think those Maxell's are showing your burner at its best..

Have a read at this lengthy post thread about others experience with relative media...

http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=140083&page=1&pp=25

Your media's being recognised ok but others have found different media has given them better results in the above thread.

Firmware http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html (can be xflash)

The 90 quality score can be improved upon, try defragmenting your hard drive (after you update Nero).

and check out some of TY and verbs mentioned in the above thread which have given excellent results.

Do periodic scans of your collections (dvd) to see if the data is holding up.

deterioration does rear its ugly head and your sure to spot it before things go too far down the line.

Hope it helps a bit, I'm goin back to my beer :)

thank you very much for your responses. One last thing if u don't mind. I have already made (or tried to make) another dvd data disc with reall bad results. This is the best i got. Even thought its says 0% is it that bad of a result?

if the copy is not worth keeping i'll keep wasting these bad discs till i get a good copy or buy some fuji by this week.

Yes thats a bad scan and coming after a 90 it seems quite possible you've got a bad batch.

If your no longer multi tasking and get a swing from 90 to 0 with high PIF.. then...

i'd try some different media on your burner.
