im trying to make a video dvd, but some of the clips have different sound levels. How do i make them all even?

You might consider using MP3gain.

Firstly sorry if there is a much more straightforward way - however at the time of writing I'm not aware of any. If anyone else knows of a simple way please let us know!!!

So ..... at least one complex method to do what you want is:

(1) Use VirtualDub to save out the sounds of the AVI clips into WAV format.
(2) Use Audacity to convert them to MP3 format
(3) Use MP3gain to normalise/level the mp3 clip levels.
(4) Use audacity to convert back to wav format
(5) Use VirtualDub to create new AVI clips with the new normalised wav files (as of step 5).
(6) use your DVD authoring s/w to create the DVD. e.g. NeroROM, Vision

also get the LAME MP3 encoder which Allows Audacity to export MP3 files.

How to use VirtualDub to link in the normalised replacement wav files for each clip:
AVI.htm" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/join-split-AVI.htm

Hint "use audio wav audio" and then select your new wav file.
