Just a post for general info.

I recently purchased DataWare 200 pack 8x DVD R's spindles. They had them on very cheap at Future Shop (Canada), be the same as Best Buy in USA. Found so far that many of them are bad disks. Cheap media at best would be to kind. Spoke to the guy at Future Shop and informed they here that allot with them. I know of two people who bought the same disks at different times, with different lot numbers and have had the same problem. As of this morning I have had 11 out of the first 100 spindle that are garbage. Tried different media w/ same project and had no issue.

So just a heads up on these before anyone else sinks cash out for them. I would'nt recommend them at all.

Learning more but still leaning on a Newbie status! :)

Here is a couple of reviews over at VideoHelp on this media, the users weren't to happy with it. Although it codes as TYG02 it must be fake because nobody gets this kind of bad burn rate with true TY media.

You should really find a reputable place online to supply your discs. Supermediastore.com sells REAL Taiyo Yuden 8x discs for 33¢ each (with free shipping going on).
Like I said, these are the real deal. I am currently at 128-0 with the last batch I got from them, and this is the reliability I'm used to with TY discs.

I normally go w/ Sony disks and have never had a problem. This was just a deal I saw and decided to try out. Was a mistake for sure. So I figured I would post it to let other people know. That way they save the cash and headaches to follow. I normally spend the cash on good media after reading all the forums here. To many issues with bad media. But I guess I was really feeling cheap that day and was there, so I took the bait. Lesson learned.

Understood. I just never buy discs from the brick and mortar places anymore. It's a personal prejudice I developed due to too many questions about what you are actually getting in those packs until you get it home.
I prefer the peace of mind that comes with going to an online outlet that tell you here is the manufacturer, here is the media code, here is the country of origin. Like I said though, that's me.
