I have been playing with the video files from one dvd for like a month now. Running it through different programs, changing its extension, etc. And still every time I try to burn the VOBs or ISO of it, I get a reallocation error...WHY!!! If I try to burn the ISO with NERO it results in a DVD that won't play in a normal player...come on! Here is the log for my latest failure with Shrink

What do you mean "playing around", and what are you trying to do?

Solution to DVD-Video files reallocation failed:

Install the freeware program IfoEdit - and in that program press "open" and locate the VIDEO_TS.IFO file in the folder where you have saved your files from DVD shrink or decrypter.

Then press the "get VTS sectors" button:

Now you'll get a decision to make. Would you like IfoEdit to correct the sectors in all IFO files in that directory, then press 'Yes'. (This is the usual use). Or if you just want to check the sectors of the current loaded IFO file, then press 'No'. Choose the 'Yes' option.

After pressing 'Yes', IfoEdit will load every IFO file, and check the sector addresses. If one or more are wrong, IfoEdit will show you which addresses have been changed: Note this is where the file corrections will be made that should take care of your problem, the corrected sectors will be displayed here.

If no wrong sector addresses have been found, then IfoEdit does not re-save the IFO file. After that is done and you are back to the main menu - close the program and you are finished with this step.

In all instances, just to make sure IfoEdit works correctly, you should always restart IfoEdit before doing this 'Get VTS Sectors' thing if you want to do it on several folders with saved DVDs.

If you encounter that IfoEdit reports this:
***********************************************
Code:
There's something wrong!
The Ifo Endsector does not match the file size.
************************************************

The solution to this problem is that you should do the same procedure with IfoEdit again - open up the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and press the button 'GET VTS sectors'. Exit IfoEdit and then open up the files again in DVD Shrink and burn with nero. This time it will work.

Get ifoedit here:

Your DMA is off for one of your HDD you need to turn it back on.

Ok 3 things

1. Jigen did you even read my post? I said that I have been converting them back and forth and running them through programs (like VOB Blanker for example) and I'm trying to BURN them...

2. John ~ Thanks for your help! I'm not at home right now so I can't try your instructions but I can do it tommorow and I'll let you know how it goes.

3. Arniebear ~ I don't understand why that would have changed. I have burned a ton of dvds. I didn't go in and change that so it should be the same as always...again I'm not home so I can't check but I will also try your advice.

Thanks!

You may want to try a program like FixVTS some of the files may have gotten scrambled if you have been moving them from program to program.

@ TyRock22. If you like to play around with lots of different programs, some of them can change your settings. Is the "DiskPeripheral : WDC WD1600JB-00GVA0" part of the original set-up that you have had success with? Or is it a recent addition?

I've become very wary of trying every "freeware" program available. Even if it looks like it might be good.

Other than that, change the DMA settings and get back with us.

Also, according to your error log, some of your drivers are for W2K. You are running XP. Have you upgraded your OS or any other components?

@buik

If you mean the Prassi Veritas driver for Win2K that is usually something put in if you use ITunes or Winamp. I got that and I run XP SP2 and it shows up as soon as I install Winamp.

You more than likely have a missing .VOB file, Nero can't find it when performing the DVD-Video files reallocation process. I would of expected ifoedit to have corrected this, since you're still having the same problem, try arniebear suggestion and use FixTVS to see if it corrects the file structure of the DVD, use it on the files already on your HDD.

There's a guide there as well.
