error after uninstalled Nero 7.0.5.4

I had issues with Nero 7.0.5.4 and so I decided to uninstall the software and go back to an older version. To uninstall it I used also the Clean tools provided: General, Registry and Driver.

Once installed. Nero 6.6 was giving me random problems with burning. It did not burn most of the Audio Cds-(was able to burn 1). Then windows started gving me similar projects. Thinking it was a nero problem, i uninstalled nero and went back to Roxio 7.5 version I had been using in the past. Still the problem persists. I cannot burn a couple of cue files I have, neither audio disk from an mp3s.

I also received a "Power calibration area error-medium error 03/73/03" today from Roxio. I think it is something taht Nero 7 did during the uninstallation/clean-up which is causing this errors.

BTW i have been using the same media CD-R i have been using in the past. SONY 700mb CD-R.

I have also tried to REINSTALL the updated firmware but since it is already installed it does not let me install it again.

I have tried to conatct Sony to assist me and the only suggestion they had was to Restore the computer to the factory defaults!

Roxio and Nero do not go too well together, I would suggest you uninstall Roxio and then try for a Nero Re install.

I have never had Nero and roxio at the same time on the machine.
Uninstalled Nero 7.0.5.4 last week
Installed Nero 6.6
Uninstalled Nero 6.6 2 days ago
Installed Roxio

problem persists on both the last applications after uninstall of Nero.

not sure if it has do do anything but I also installed Symantec Client Security too this past week.

Anyone please help if you know. Otherwise is formatting c:....

I dont know which clean tools you used but I would run Both of these

http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html, there may be some files relating to Nero thats still lurking

you can try the latest version of Nero7 or try to install this version of Nero7 which is bug free

May want to try the latest version of Nero 7 (7.0.8.2) that was released a couple of days ago. Some people have had problems with v 7.0.5.4 having bugs. Here is a link:

I actually haven't switched from 7.0.1.4b yet eighther. I was thinking of doing it tommorrow, sounds like Alkohol and others have been having success with it.

If anyone knows anything about Nero, any version at all, then it's alkohol. I will let him find any faults if there is any before he says it's OK.

it seems you both think is software issue. i think it is a windows issue which was caused by the 1st Nero uninstalation. otherwise i would have had problems in Nero 6.6 and then later in roxio 7.5. I think that my last resort before formating will be to try your suggestion to install the bug free version of Nero.

with the amount of changes that you have been attempting i think the only sure fire way to pinpoint anything or to fix it as the case may be is to do a clean install.

Save all your files and then format that sucker............


doubt if the bug free version of Nero will work to your satisfaction
