After using all the clean tools and installing version 7.0.5.4, I get an error message at boot up, "INcd api can not be loaded". Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Is INcd a necessary module for Nero to work properly? What is it that can not be done if you do not install INcd?

I have my 4th or 5th email into nero tech support and after I follow their instructions, I end of with the same problem as above or a new one.

I downloaded the newest version tonight,as well as all of the clean tools and plan on reinstalling. Does the order that you use the clean tools matter?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to aD!!
You don't need the InCD - Nero supports Disc at Once recording so packet writing is not usually needed. It is not a necessary app for Nero to work.
Uninstall your current version then run the clean tools then reinstall to the latest version.

grod49 -

Nero version 7.0.5.4 has been found to have many bugs by several of the users in this forum. The latest bug free version of nero 7 is 7.0.1.4.b and can be updated here:

http://httpdl6.us.nero.com/software/nero7/Nero-7.0.1.4b_eng_no_yt.exe

I would stay away from 7.0.5.4, it has caused lots of headaches for people. There is a new version that came out yesterday on Nero's website - version 7.0.8.2 It sounds like it hasn't been buggy but it is a brand new release. Here is a link with more info on this version:

Hey FiremanDB, what are you doing up so late?..lol

I just installed the latest version of nero7 and so far it seems to be working fine. I haven't encountered any problems with using it yet, so updating to the latest version so far seem to be the way to go (in my opinion anyway).

I'm going to get some sleep
Cheers.

I'm actually at work right now. I'm on the west coast, so it's not too late :)

I've downloaded the latest Nero version to my desktop, but I'm waiting for the guinne pigs like you to let me know how it runs before I take the plunge and actually install it.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I used windows uninstall, then the clean tools from Nero. When I run general-cleantool_7 which extracts file "General CleanTool 2000.exe", it throws an error message that indicates there is an older version still installed and consequently it aborts.

So I downloaded all the clean tools and ran each of them, ver 5, and ver 6. I rebooted and still get the error message when running General CleanTool 2000.exe.

I ran "registrychecker.exe" and it appeared to do nothing. There were no messages, no change in the screen. The hard drive light was flashing, but after waiting a very long time, I could not tell if anything had happened.

Do I need to just use regedit and delete all "ahead" and "nero" entries it finds? And if so, do you only delete out of the window to the right?

I get the same error when I try to use the Nero clean tool. Just install it and see if it works for you. I haven't had any problems with the newest release (7.0.8.2)

Try this:
1) Uninstall INCD from your system and make sure all traces of it are gone using it's clean tool found here (you don't need it unless you plan on formatting alot of RW disks):

http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html

2) Write down your serial# for nero and then uninstall nero from your system using the general cleantool found here (this one will work and wipe your system clean of nero):

http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/General_CleanTool.html

3) Next run the registry checker and have it fix any problems found, get it here:

http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Driver_CleanTool_and_RegistryChecke...

4) Install nero7 (the latest version 7.0.8.2) found here and re-enter the serial# (uncheck the yahoo tool bar option):

http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/nero7-up.php#opt2

I tried the above method and then tried to install version 7.0.8.2 and I get the same error. I used the above mentioned uninstall procedure again and installed version 7.0.1.4b and I do not have any errors.

I need to use the InCD app for my data backup program Acronis since it doesn't include a pack writing feature.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Do you have any other packet writing software installed on your PC that may be conflicting with INCD?

Did you have Roxio installed on your PC at one point? If so you may have remnants of it's packet writing software still on yor system and should be removed using ZAP.

You can get zap.exe here:
http://www.the-predator.com/dell/sec7-5.html#7-5-5

click on the "CD/RW site" selection to get it.

I've got a silly question..
Was INCD chosen to be installed when you installed the nero package, I know that it's not by default and must choose a custom install to make it part of the installation of nero.

I also had a InCD issue. I could not install my Nero 7 because it said I had to uninstall a previous version of InCD. When I went into my add and remove programs, in the list there was InCD, but clicking on the change/remove did nothing. So I got my Nero 6 express cd(which was installed before got hold of Nero 7 Premium) and installed InCD only. Then after that I went back in my control panel to add/remove, then clicked the remove button. BINGO, that did it. I was then able to easyly install Nero 7.

John123-

Never had any other packet writing software installed previously. I do have the following DVD/CD burning programs installed on my machine and all "played nice together" up until I went past version 7.0.1.4b:

Latest BlindWrite Suite
Alcohol 120% (Latest version)

Here are my system specs:

Asus P5WD2 Premium WiFi/TV Tuner
Pentium 4 840D 3.2 Extreme Edition
2GB Kingston HyperX DDR2 PC5400
BFG 7800GTX OC
2 x Plextor PX-716a DVD Burner
3 x 400GB HDDs
1 x 500GB HDD
SB X-Fi XtremeMusic
Onboard 10/100/1000 NIC

I puposely chose to install InCD because when I want to do a system back to DVD, I use Acronis 9 and it requires packet writing software to be installed since it doesn have one built into it.

Something is conflicting with INCD, try uninstalling those applications one at a time, then run INCD and see what happens.

It worked with every version up to 7.0.1.4b. So you want me to try to uninstall Alcohol 120%, Blindwrite suite, Acronis and Nero 7 then try to reinstall everything starting with Nero 7?

Well, if your theory holds true and I can successfully get Nero 7 w/InCD installed and then have it continue to work successfully after I install the other apps, then everytime a new version of Nero 7 comes out I would have to do the same thing?

Well, not really.

We're trying to determine what may be conflicting with INCD's operation. So once all apps have been removed, reinstalled nero7 and see if INCD functions correctly. If INCD is ok, reinstall the other applications (one at a time) and recheck INCD after each install to see if it's working properly.

It may not be any of the apps. Depending on how this turns out, I have one more thing to try.

Although there haven't been any other posts regarding a problem with using INCD (that I have see anyway, and I can't verify that there is since I have no use for it), there may be a problem with the INCD application bundled with versions 7.0.5.4 and 7.0.8.2 ???.

So there are two options...(since INCD is intergrated in nero7)...

1) Stick to version 7.0.1.4b since you say it works correctly for you; maybe a correction/fix will be made with future updates if there is an issue with it.

2) If you want to stick to version 7.0.8.2, remove INCD using the removal tool found here..

http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html

After it's been removed, install INCD version 4.3.20.1 from nero6 found here..

http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php

I believe it should work.

Thanks for your suggestions and help, John, but since I need the functionality of InCD to go with my OS backup software (until they release their own packet writing componant), I will use v7.0.1.4b since InCD works fine there.

When you run the registry checker, should you not get some visual feedback that it is running, finished, or whatever. I let it run for hours with no visable change on the screen. I looked in the windows task manager and it showed the registry checker in a "running" status.

After running all the clean tools you suggested, I then run the clean_7 version and it still gives an error message. Is that just a bad executable?

Should I just go ahead and install ver 7.0.8.2 in spite of the error message indicating there is still an "incompatible version found"?

The registry checker should provide some feed back if a problem was found and rather quickly, if not you should manually close it.

Taken from the nero site reguarding the reg tool:
*********************************************************************
Run Driver-CleanTool.exe by double-clicking it. Driver CleanTool will remove all drivers and registry entries.

Confirm the deactivation of the drivers displayed in order to prevent known driver conflicts from reoccurring in the future. These drivers also exist with values in the Windows NT, 2000 and XP registries.

In order to confirm that these drivers are deactivated, you will need to run the RegistryChecker file.
*********************************************************************

The general cleantool for nero 7 should run without producing any errors for it to of done it's job correctly and then prompt for a reboot. You can get a fresh download here, and try it again.

http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/General_CleanTool.html

Do not try and install version 7.0.8.2 untill the clean tool does it's job correctly first.

Are you trying to install version 7.0.1.4b or 7.0.8.2 ? I thought you were going to stick to 7.0.1.4b.

Note: When installing or even uninstalling software, I recommend you disconnect from the internet and disable any antivirus programs.

John,
I used the download link for the clean tool and made sure that all antivirus and firewall software was turned off. I re-installed the newest version. Version 7.0.5.4b is no longer available, or I should say that all of the links are no longer active.

After re-installing I ran the speed test. I got an error message "Nero cd-dvd speed test, error, "logical block address out of range (052100)"

I wonder if I am going to have to re-install winxp pro after manual cleaning up the registry. Maybe I deleted something in error. I dont know, I am sooooo frustrated with Nero 7. Do you think the error message is an indication that I need to re-install the opering system?
