Hey everyone, I was wondering what the best format to rip to would be. I did one in avi, but it's not amazing quality, and i don't know if it would be better if i did a different one. Also, the screen is a little skewed, so should i be ripping stuff not in widescreen, or do i have to set the program to rip specifically widescreen? thanks for your help.

1. What Is DVD-RB?

DVD-RB, or DVD Rebuilder, is a tool that uses an MPEG encoder to compress DVD-9 discs to fit on a DVD-5 recordable.

2. What's the difference between DVD-RB and Other 1 Click programs?

Most 1 click tools are compressed domain transcoders. What this means in English is that they simply remove enough information from the video on a DVD to make it small enough to fit on a blank disc. Instead of using that approach, DVD-RB re-encodes the video from scratch. The advantage to this approach is that a good MPEG encoder will do a better job of distributing the bitrate, both between frames and between different pixels in the same frame, in a way that maintains as much quality as possible from the original.

If the disk is encrypted it will have to be removed manually,
or by AnyDVD (which I use).

Also you can use clonedvdmobile to rip dvd movies to various formats.

CloneDVD mobile converts your DVD movies quickly and easily into a format that your portable device (Sony PSP, Apple iPod Video, iAudio X5, Creative Labs ZEN Vision, etc) can play. You can also convert your DVDs to other file formats, such as DivX, XviD, AVI, MP4, etc.

Best quality would be to create a 1:1 DVD format backup.
If you still want to change it to another format for
use on a pc I would use mp4.
