I'm not Creaky, but one thing right off the bat is you're burning too fast. You burn too fast, you get choppy results.

I burn no higher than 6X, most everyone on this forum will tell you not to burn higher than 4X, regardless of your burner specs and the media you're using.

pgavinski,
There are several things that can cause the problem you're seeing, from your Nero log I can see two possibilities.

First, and most likely the cause is here:
*****************************************
Burn process started at 12x (16,620 KB/s)
*****************************************

You're burning way too fast, slow it down to 4x and you should be ok.

Second, is shown here:
*******************************************************************
Media Specific [16..63]:
00 60 00 10 20 30 40 50 - 00 00 00 21 00 00 00 00 .`...0@P...!....
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
********************************************************************

Your burner does not have a write strategy for the media you're using so it applies a generic one to try and make it work. You should see if a firmware update is available for your burner and update to the latest, you should also use good quality media (that made in japan stuff), check with the burner's manufacturer and see what is recommended.

1/2 the maximum speed is what I normally recommend.
So 4x for 8x media,
Or 8x for 16x media.
and so on...
But I would wait and see what works best for you.
4x Is a 'sweet spot' for a lot of burners it seems....

Cheers!

@pgavinski - 'fraid you're doing it again, for some reason you're starting a new thread sometimes when you mean to reply. i'll have to close the previous thread here now -
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/314156

you're gonna have to make sure to reply to your own threads instead of starting new ones. at the very least that makes new replies totally incoherent to everyone, like walking into half of a conversation...
i'll have a scan thru the Nero log...

and yes, you're missing the first bit of your logfile, from the preceding "
====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======" line.

i can see you're using decent media, as the others are saying, burning at 12x (slow it right down) but we need the top section of logfile to verify your firmware level of the Sony 710 burner.....
