Most of the time when I try to burn dvds (movies), it doesn't work out right. When I try to watch them part of it will end up being unreadable

These are the dvd-rs I have
Taiyo Yuden 4X DVD-R Media Silver Shiny in Tape Wrap 100 Pack (bought from supermediastore.com)

My burner:
LITE-ON DVDRW LDW-811S

I've been using Alcohol120 1.9.5.3105
1x speed (no other choice), DVD DAO (no other choice)
Burn from DVD image files (mostly .img)

Is there an option in Alcohol that verifies the burn once it's done so I don't have to go back and rewatch the movie to make sure it turned out OK?

Is there something I'm doing blatantly wrong?

And I haven't tested these with actual DVD players... will I have to worry about compatability or anything like that?

Thanks

EDIT:
Oh and also while burning, I'm usually browsing the internet. Is that a problem?

@tehwalrus

I use them same DVD disc from the same store. They have worked perfect for me. It says they are 4x speed but I have no problem burning them at 8x. I use DVD Decrypter to burn the ISO images after using DVD Rebuilder Pro + CCE. Or sometimes I use Nero and (burn Image file)with it and that works as well.

What programs do you use to recode (compress) a DVD9 disc to DVD5.

The more information you can gives us the better it will be to help you out.

As of surfing the net while recoding or burning it really depends on how powerfull your computer is. If you dont have alot of RAM or CPU then its best to let it be while it does its work.

Also go to the below link and make sure you download the latest firmware. (HROS)

Below is the firmware page if you want to check it yourself.

I only have the image files. I dont' have access to the actual dvds

Should I try burning with DVD Decrypter? or maybe Nero? Or should the program not make a difference?

And my computer is 3ghz with a gig of ram. It seems like it would be fine, but I'll probably leave my comp alone while it's burning in the future just to be on the safe side then

If you are burning the images try using DVD Decrypter or Nero to burn the image see if it makes a diffrence.

Also make sure your Firmeware is up to date like I said above. As of you.

Your system is close to mine and I surf while recoding burrning the disc and have no trouble with burning the disc.

1x is kinda slow to be burrning. I would open up Nero or use DVD Decrypter and try burning at a higher speed.

Let us know if it worked for you.

So far I've had 2 of 2 successful burns using DVD Decrypter with updated firmware

SO *clap clap* with the advice

But I have a slight problem

When the dvd's verifying after it burns, it comes up with this error

This comes up about 90% through the verifying process. And whenever I hit "retry" the error pops up again. and once every 20 or so retries, it starts verifying again.

I'm not all that copmuter savvy, so I dont' really understand what it means

Help?

Thanks

I never verify after I burn.

It looks like there might be a bad spot on the burn its a read error.

Does this do it for all the backups or just the 1 that your verifying now?

Does it show up when watching the movie?

What speed did you burn at? If you tried it at 8x then slow down to 4x.

I just had 1 of my disc burn bad so I slowed it back down to 4x better to be safe then sorry.

The blank media im using is the same media as yours and from the same online-store as yours.

This error popped up while verifying both of the dvds I tried to burn

Thing is, I scanned through the movie after burning it, and it seemed to be fine.... no glitches or anything

I burned both of them at 4x speed

I dont know what else to tell you. You have good media you are burrning at a slow speed. It should burn fine. Try watching the DVD's all the way threw see if they play with no trouble. Other then that I duno what to tell you.

I never verifey my burns after I burn them so iv never come across this problem. I know it is a read error which decrypter cant read that section. Im thinking maybe it has to do with your burrner if it happenes at the same spot on both disc.

Whish I could be of more help but I duno what else to tell you to do. You updated your firmware you have good media you burn at the right speed.

Maybe someone else will come along and bebale to give you diffrent advice. I just dont know what else to tell you.
