Get a firmware 2.0 or lower. In the Psp menu go to the left side of the shell menu and go to system setting and then to system information. Its right there.
Iso game size can range from 150 megs to over a gig. Depends on if you shrink it and such. a 1 gig stick should do you fine.
You just need the emulators and you need to put them in the right folders( come back and read the guides once you've gotten your psp)
you can get the firmwares from psp-hacks.com.. upgrading and downgrading is easy.
be advised that if you upgrade past 2.0 e.g 2.01 there is no turning back.

Hmn, alright get a version 1.5 and a 2GB mem stick, can't tell you any sites since it's illigal here (and I don't use them, 56k :() but I'm sure google will help.;)
Steps to bricking a PSP:
1. Get a brick
2. Hit the psp with it untill it won't run any longer
Congratulations, your psp is now bricked.

you got it on the nob... 2.01 there is no going back..
i am not knocking you.. i have 56k too, i download games when i am at work, and the bulk of my games are on dvd, so i haven't had the need dl the games.. but like when i had to download my Adobe CS2 it was 330mb and took 3 days ! lol.
and if it says 184 its not actually 184 because its compresses so it will be more actual size.
I got my exit today and it was 69.5 but unpacked it was 115 so idk dood.

no need to decompress an iso file, just make a folder in your psp root, called ISO, then stick that iso there, then u'll need to download UMD emulator from psp-hacks.com. Install that using the read me pretty simple then fire it up select the iso and woala!

well the $50 deal is with this company, but you have to be a subscriber to their cable service, so cable and 15 meg for about $94 + tax. another thing is that my dial up is 100% free .. so why would i pay 50 extra bucks lol.. I just download what i need when I am at work, burn it or put it on to my psp (like i did with exit last night) and thats it..

free dial up is the shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!
oh yea you asked some questions,
no even if you save the psp game to your stick certain games are going to require you to still have a umd in your drive
1. dev hook is a loader that from what i hear doesnt need a umd in the drive for some games
2. remote tv is a program that lets you change channels (i guess of your sony tv) with your psp.. there is another program that lets you operate digital cable boxs and tvs amoung 1200 tvs, vcrs and such.(don't remember the friggin name tho)
3. sxt is a changer that tricks your psp into thinking it is a later version, this doesnt alter the flash or add any codecs, just changes the number in the system menu although from what i heard it works on few games.
and 4. I don't kno what the $&%! that is.
