Hi im using anydvd to reduce the speed of of my dvd drive to slow and quite. Is this safe to do? Why do they have it running at such high speeds and making so much noise?

It is doing the same thing as using Shrink and telling it to burn at 4X w/ a 16X burner. When I rip my DVD-Rom it is not noisy as I just let it go at what ever speed it wants to go at. I do agree w/ LOCOENG on the speed angle.

So im assuming its ok to watch dvd videos wiht the low speed as well? Is it safe to switch back in forth to a faster speed while ripping, and a slower speed while watching dvds.

The speed to view a DVD is set automatically by the program you are using to view the DVD w/ and AnyDVD has no effect on the speed that you want to watch it w/ the family. It will be just like viewing it on the DVD Player connected to the TV. Moving the speed control is OK as it has no effect while you are viewing
