I don't think so, afterall so long as you own the original they can't really do anything to you. I think it's just that companys try to sue and they people can afford the legal bills or something like that.

Recode 2 is part of the Nero franchise, no Studio wants to take anything on taht has the kind of a backing and Recode doesn't have a decryption thing.

Of course I'm just pulling this outta my a$$.

i think you'll find that what i'm referring to is that the actual program of dvdshrink and all other programs that have rippers in them have been taken off Afterdawns servers.Filepedia which is part of AD doesnt host them anymore.But discussions on how to use them and how to fix there problems etc is still available.

Well i'm an aussie to.Why dont you provide the link to where you got it from off Afterdawn

It is basically the same software with one key difference, Recode cannot rip copy protected material.

I was able to get the install from here as well.

I think it was supposed to be removed, so its probably an oversight.
I suspect it will be removed soon.

@LOCOENG
ironic isnt it that they got dvd shrink because it has decryption breaking capabilties
but when you think about it what would you use recode for other than copying and editing dvds ok you could use it for reediting your home movies you have already made but if you had the knowledge to build them in the first place then have the knowledge to re edit them without a ripper and if you just want to copy them there is much easier and quicker ways than recode

as far as I'm concerned when nero wrote recode it was for the main purpose of copying commercial dvd's in conjunction with tools such as anydvd, dvd43, etc

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, andmerr.

DVD Shrink was never removed, since it's main function is DVD compression, not copy protection circumvention. Please see the news post at

http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/7179.cfm

for the list of software items that were removed.
