im an idiot i guess and this might be a useless thread for you genius folks but for the last couple months, certain games wouldnt work on my slimline, the original or backup, they would get to the initial load screen and then my conslole started sounding like it was devouring itself from the inside out.but other ones would work fine, originals and backups. I searched and searched on the forums without any way to fix it. I had installed slim tools and I think I must have the v14 cus there was a metal guard where me tool c was supposed to go. anyway I believe my tool b (disc brake stopper) had fallen down in the console so i had to fasion another out of a piece of plastic. All was well again, ( with all the games i currently had ,but evidently some games make the laser go back and forth farther and my first piece was jamming it, and making the awful clicking sound. took it out, also went ahead and just taped down the button that tool c is supposed to and all is perfect now, glad i saved all my backups that didnt work ,, im testing all now, and theyre great. I hope this helps at least one person. I was about to buy new system next week for fear that my laser was done.

Ive heard that clicking sound on my ps2 but its always a bad copy of the game.
