Softmod gone wrong

OK, I softmodded my xbox and then while i was ftping halo 2 mods to it, I saw in some folder EvoX.dash. So, I put the EvoX.dash in to hte skins folder, cuz i thought i could just select it as a skin when i started my xbox. But, now I have no dash and the only way i can play games is to coldboot my xbox. All that shows up is the green X with a black screen. What do I do? Is there anyway to fix it? (I don't have my softmod gamesaves anymore)

try and softmod it again. since you can still play games then theres inst any big problem its just some files messed up on your c drive.

I can't because i don't have the softmod gamesaves and i can't ftp my xbox b/c there's no dashboard. Is there a way to get the saves on my xbox?

First you need ms dash. you can get it from xbins or autoinstaller disk. Just save the ms dash on PC.
Then do the hotswap. follow the tutor in here.

After the pc can read the xbox hdd, copy ms dash to root of C.

i would do the hotswapping thing but, i don't want to open my xbox and do stuff to it while it is running. Can't i just use a A.I.D. to make it work?

Is there anyway to get the softmod saves on my xbox in an alternate way so, i could just reinastall the softmod?

if your xbox can still read games then try and run an xbox live game and try to connect to xbox live but make sure the cable is not connected so you dont get banned. coz xbox live games have a file that updates the dashboard but im not sure if it will work in ur case. hope it works

Well when i went to that tutorial website link you gave me it said you could ruin your X-Box and you electricute yourself because the X-Box is running while you do it. I don't want to have to do this because of the risks unless it is easier than it sounds?

It is data cable that connects to hdd. NOt the power cable.

my xbox boots to MS Dashboard but when i put in AID 3 i installed evox again plus the softmod way and unleash X tried it but didnt work still booted to MS dasboard but when i choose to reboot in AID 3 it goes right to evox what can i do ive installed everyting correctly all it does is boot the MS bios Screen then go to the clock then i click ok then it plays the game i want copied or not.

well it worked only problem is now that when i softmoded it its not wanting to read DVD-R and burnt games it usually freezes up or it just goes back to evox menu and its not the game becasue when it booted to the ms dashboard burnt games worked.
