philraz- have you tried a online retailer such as Supermediastore.com- or Rima .com Or Meritline .com or even Newegg.com You should be able to buy darn near anything you want media wise from one of them ! Meritline is running a promotion on Taiyo Yuden Media right now ! Any 100Ct pack of Taiyo yuden media is available with free shipping so you may want to consider Taiyo Yuden media instead of verbatim Though Verbatim is an excellent brand as well ! Food for thought Good luck whatever youu decide ! Ciao!

It looks like that media might be memorex. Is it? If so, I'd steer clear of it. Search memorex in the forums here and you'll see why. I agree with the other comment about buying online. I use Supermediastore.com all the time. I only use Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim Data Life Plus. Supermedia always has the TY's on sale. Hope this helps.

philraz- I don't know if you have a Samsclub store near where you live but I was just there and picked up a 100Ct spindle or the DVD+R 8X Verbatim media for 29.88 + tax of course ! so You may want to check your local SAMSCLUB if you have one ! Good luck & hope you get what you want media wise! Happy Buying ! Ciao!

memorex does buy some of their media from infodisc along with other crap media manufacturers like cmc mag and optodisc.

So I see memorex does use that media must have just fluked a good pack past experence has led me to always use verbatim as i said supplys of media around my home are poor and unless I want to pay $3.00 each at the local supermarket for sonys looks like I'll have to make some phone calls and have some mailed to me hopefully they'll arive in one peice this time
and I would recommend that site to all who are intrested in information about media here it is again

Use that guide as a rough guideline. It is pretty badly outdated.

Yes, there is some good info there but some of the makers of different branded medias has changed or no longer applies eg. cmc mag no longer makes any media for verbatim although there may still be some floating around. Also they show TDK to be grade 1st class media and I would never use it. Also a very good chance of getting cmc mags if you buy any TDK dvd+r's. Prodisc is shown to be 2nd class and all the prodisc media I have had has playback issues within a year from when they were burned. I would also stay away from optodisc and infodisc which they show to be 2nd class.

A lot of the info is still accurate but just don't take it likes it's etched in stone.

in regards to digitalfaq, i couldn't have said it better myself, mort81 stated it perfectly

i've said this probably 100x here on afterdawn, YES, it's a good reference/guideline for newbies and it DOES provide decent "categorical" info, however, as mort elluded to, it's simply outdated and the "rankings" are outdated and very biased...TDK being in 1st class is SIMPLY A JOKE~!

I agree about the TDK media. I have some movies which are coded TTG01 that turned to crap in less than a year.

@ both addicts. On occasion, I've passed that dvd link on to some newbies who were looking for advice. I know it's been around for a while , but never knew it wasn't updated. Is there a different link I can pass on which would have better info?
