any good freeware for backing up DVDs to AVI

hey all... like the title says im after some freeware to back up some dvds (now that my pcs finally working properly), ive had a look in all the usual places (mainly google) but i havent been able to find anything that you dont have to pay for after 30 days...

so are there any suggestions?
