Insert the backup into the drive that produced that backup.
Open up dvdinfopro
Look on lower/left corner and set your dvd-rw drive
Click PI/PO disc icon on the top/center
Set the scan for 4x
Click test

I go by the Yellow spikes, and the PIF total. Most scans have a rating, but mine doesn't. I just go with the lower pif totals. When that scan hits one of those huge yellow spikes, the PIF total really starts to roll up.

427 at 4x and 4632 at 8x,so the 4x definitely look better. Both scans are ok and should be no issues upon playback, but I still like to keep those little errors down to a minimum.

Here's one of my verbatim MCC-004 scans, that was burned at 12x:

72 total pifs, which is almost perfect when it comes to dvd scans.

I'm not able to use nerospeed test.Everything is grayed out,and what isn't grayed out, says I need a cd-r backup to test.I've never seen a pic of that benchmark test screen.

I think when I took that pic,I hit just the printscreen key. That takes a pic of everything on the pc screen. I now click alt and printscreen at the same time, just to get the main window that I want.

Congrats on posting that pic!

I'm not familiar with that benchmark test. I did see a spike at the 3.0 gb mark that didn't look very good. Not sure exactly what is is.

I'm not sure of what you mean by control v rightclick?

You copy the url addresses that contain your pic from hosting sites. Then paste it into your reply. Then add the brackets [*img]hostsiteofpic.com[*img],but omitting the 2 asterisks-**- I put in there.

saugmon - I think he was trying to paste the image into his reply. Which can't be done. You have to save the image online then paste the url inside the IMG quotes as you suggested.

When you quote saugmon

I believe what saugmon is talking about is using the Paint program found in windows to do a screen capture of the active window rather than the whole screen. If you want to find out how you can do that too, go to this thread where alkohol and i are showing how to do it. (thats a thread where i learned a few things too)

Yes (bad), your PIE are almost 4,000,000 and your PIF are over 11,000. You want something more in the range of the pic I posted on the first page of this thread. I've read that the goal to shoot for would be under 10,000 for PIE and under 200 for PIF. You won't always get that, but that's a good goal to shoot for.

You can't paste a image in the reply box. You'll have to do as Maxburn suggested:
Quote:

As to your benchmark test, I believe that looks good from what I've seen on other forums. But I know very little about them. I believe what you want from that scan is to see a nice steady line, one that doesn't jerk up and down. But I could be wrong.

Ok i just read that link you sent me about the paint program. So there is no way possible to just print screen then past a pic in the reply field or add an attachment to my reply. I have to put my pic in a url like photobucket and paste my urls?

Oh yeah and i have some more test results comin. Just got my verbatims and burned matrix revolutions at 8x. will post tomorow for some input from you guys on wether it is a good burn or not if you want.
it Looks alot better than my memorex burn haha.

here goes my new burn with a verbatim DVD-R 16x burned at 4x with CloneDVD. The more critque's & opinion's on the burn the better. Im all ears for some good or bad comments.

Also what does that scandisk do?
In the disc info picture, does it look like i have real verbatims?

Now for the disc quality, what is most important to be low(the max, the total, or the average?)

we don't often hear of faked Verbatim's..

as to scans, without undermining anyone else's replies in the thread (haven't read all of it), all you need to know is in the first post here - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/193298 which in turn links off to far more detailed info on the cdfreaks website. In my humble opinion there's only so much value in scanning, i personally experimented with scanning back when i raised the thread in my first link i just quoted, but have had no need to really do any scanning (except the odd CRC scan) since. i only ever have to CRC scan something when i get a disc that skips or freezes (i only ever have this happen on crappy discs that i knew were bad and i've know all but eradicated those discs from my collection by re-ripping from originals and reburning to top notch media).

in my experience a disc that skips/freezes is shown to have CRC corruption). i went into rant mode re the inability of burn programs to burn 100% correctly, here -http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/316384#1842008

So when i re rip these movis, i should rip from the original store bought movie. is it bad to rip a movie from burned disc, and if ido rip them will the errors on the burned disc show up on my iso file?

Does my new matrix verbatim burn look like a good one? why or why not

It's always better to rip the original for a copy of it.
Quote:
is it bad to rip a movie from burned disc
It depends. If that first copy was on crap media/burned too fast/burned too slow/multi-tasked/or on a crappy burner, then yes. Most likely crc errors on that first copy.

Now myself,no problem, but I do make that first copy as error free as possible. Here's my formula for my first backup copy,so I can re-rip it anytime I want, later on down the road:
1) Quality media
2) Burned at the speed that gives me fewest errors on my scans
3) No multi-tasking
4) Defragged harddrive
5) Clean registry/no spyware/malware
6) No paper/sticker labels
7) Quality benq drives
8) Quality readers to do the ripping
9) Main movie only,no compression
10) 4360 mb burn target.Do not burn to the outer edge of media.

If your first copy was crap, then second copy may not be re-rippable-crc error, or also a duplicate copy of crap, LOL

You'll find out for yourself. Try re-ripping one of your backups, using your normal rip to harddrive and burn. You have to be able to get it onto your hard drive. If major problem/s,then you'll get a crc error. You don't have to go through with the burn.Just try to get them onto your harddrive. If successfully ripped to the harddrive, then you should be ok. If not successful, then something major is wrong.

hmm some more CRC stuff. Can someone explain to me what this CRC is and how to test it or giveme al link to explain it?

if i multi-task when ripping will it mess up the rip also?

Does a defragged hard drive or clean registry really make a difference in a rip or a burn?

Is clonedvd or nero 7 premium a good reader?

How do i make sure it wont burn to the outside edge of the media, just rip it to 4360 and use a 4.7 gig disc, or does the software have to do with anything?

AND CAN SOMEONE PLEASE COMMENT ON MY MOST RECENT PPOSTED BURN ON THIS THREAD LOL? is it a good one. why or why not?

Thanks guys
