I used to burn everything using DVD-R, but I have been recently booktyping DVD+R to DVD-ROM after reading that this is more compatible with various stand a lone players. I am finding that
DVD-R's seem to play on more machines than the booktyped ones. Did I misunderstand about the compatibility being better with booktyping to DVD-ROM? Thanks

They are more compatible with older machines in my experience. It really should work on the vast majority of standalones.

I only use Verbatims. The latest +R's are 16X MCC-004, and the few -R's I still have are 8X MCC-03RG20. I am finding the -R's seem to work on more standalones than the booktyped ones.

and what stand alones are you refering to? how many stand alones do you have? I use Taiyo Yuden strictly....and maybe 1 out of 600 or higher will have a problem.... I booktype them all! Use the only a couple of programs to encode, transcode, burn.... and my collection keeps growning!
