Hi, I am wondering when you are looking at DVD covers (like the ones that you find at hirescovers.com for example) the ones that you print right onto the CD..for the best quality should I be looking at the ones that have a higher file size (like 1 or 2 MB or higher)? Of should I be looking at the resolution (like 1000x1000 for example). I am just confused because I figured that with a higher file size came a higher resolution, I am finding that this is not always the case. For example I have found some that are only around 200kb but are like 1500x1500 and then I have found some that are upward of around 3MB and are still maybe 1500x1500 or 1000x1000. I would assume that ideally the higher on both the better but if I can't find that do I want one with heger resolution or higher file size? Sorry for the probably dumb question but I am really new to this. Thanks!

The difference is probably simply the quality (definition) of the image itself. Assuming they all use the same image format (JPEG), a file with 1500 x 1500 pixel resolution with a size of 300kb would be of lower quality than a file of the same resolution and higher size (for example 1MB). You should look for files that offer a good balance between resolution and size.

Honestly, if the image looks good to you, use it.

Always use good quality blank media. Verbatim is always a good call. Don't be seduced by those 50-spindles you find in the $2.99 bin at your local car wash! :)

and what I do........ I download the image and use my software to adjust the image to my liking! I can blur the image to get the lines out and make it look better or sharpen the image.... then save it, and use the image in with the software that prints it to disk! cool stuff.

Good point.

If you have good image editing software such as photoshop, you can download images that are bigger (both in size and resolution) and scale them down without losing quality of definition. Note that it's not always possible to sharpen a blurry image with software to a point were you can increase the quality of the picture.
