Ok maybe this has been posted before butI didnt see it and I looked through the first few pages
I have only been buying Verbatim DVD+R Lightscribe, DVD-R, and DVD+R DL.
I only buy this stuff when its on sale
Problem is its not on sale right now and I need some DVD-R and Double Layer discs.
My Question is what do you think of
Fuji +R,-R, and +DL
Memorex +R,-R, and +DL (The +DL are on sale, they any good?)
Phillips
HP (Garbage?)
Sony (Garbage?)

any and all input is appreciated

Fuji +R,-R, and +DL .. the Fuji +R discs that are made in Japan are my favorite discs .. they (as well as the made in Japan -R) are made by Taiyo Yuden ... the made in Taiwan +R and -R are decent B+ media ... avoid the +DL discs, they are RicohjpnD00 and I've had real problems with them
Memorex +R,-R, and +DL (The +DL are on sale, they any good?) .. the +R and -R are junk while the +DL (made by Philips is my current second favorite .. see comment at end of post)
Phillips ... +R is crap and the -R is hit or miss .. the +DL surprisingly is not made by Philips (at least in my experience) and is MKM001 coded, same as Verbatim ... MKM001 IS THE BEST DL MEDIA available
HP (Garbage?) .. yes due to their uneven quality
Sony (Garbage?) .. not at all .. made in Japan are usually Taiyo Yuden, excellent stuff while the made in Taiwan ate very good

***** as far as +DL and -DL discs go ... if you purchase anything that is not made by MKM you're taking your chances so beware *****

Legand- try using DVD Identifier -this will show you the media code = who actually made the media versus who's brand name is on the label or packaging Hope this helps ! happy Burning & good luck ~

Out of those choices sony will be your best bet. Look for those made in japan although the made in taiwan are still better imo than most of the other medias you listed. I only use verbatim DL media so I can't help you much there. Fuji should be good as long as you stay with made in japan. Memorex, phillips, and HP I would steer clear of.

I have a Memorex DVD+R DL and it is made by Ritek

I would stay away from Memorex Dual Layer media. I bought a 3-pack and a 15-pack. In total I burned about 10 maybe 12 or so of these disks with 4 either skipping or freezing in my dvd players and dvd burners. Checked em' with CD/DVD Speed and DVDInfoPro and the 4 bad ones had CRC errors right around the layer change. The disks burned without any problems, however when it came time for playback they didn't work. So out of 18 disks(and I didn't even burn all 18) I got 4 coasters. That's pretty bad. Bad enough for me to never buy Memorex Dual Layer media again. Since this incident I only buy Verbatim DL media now. I have burned 13 dual layer verbs so far from 2 different 10-packs and no coaster yet. Not a single crc error unlike the Memorex disks.
