Hey, Ive just brought a PSP, and im pretty happy with my ps2... Cos I can backup my games. I was wondering is it possible to backup PSP UMDs? or is the technology not that good on the streets yet?

Nope its not possible for movies yet man, but if your on firmware 1.5 check this out

go here http://jonny.leffe.dnsalias.com/ and get
PMP mod 1.02 Thats the player which goes on your psp

To encode the video, theres a couple of ways
Easy way
Xvid4PSP
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=19972
or Pmenc
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20477
Hard way
get PMP Muxer 1.02 from jonnys site
3. Now go here
http://dspguru.doom9.net/ and get BeSweet v1.5b31
and then go here http://corecodec.org/projects/belight/ and get
BeLight Stable version 0.21
Also youll need VirtualDub
from here http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=65889 There will be more to download but thats it for now.

Now unzip Besweet files into a folder called besweet (any name will do) then unzip your belight and put all the files from belight into the besweet folder you just made.

PS When belight or besweet starts to do its processing it might say error: ogg.dll missing
you might have to download it in google its easy to find once you have them place any files needed in the same besweet folder, the only one i couldnt find was vorbisenc.dll which i didnt need anyway

Joeva
Try highlighting every .00X file and then right click open with winrar

Wags Yeah you can dump games for backup from umd, most the games will work.
Fastloader will dump them

LOL, You dont burn to UMD or DVD, you know the little memory sticks that come with PSP? memory stick pro duo?
You install everything onto that, thats why ppl get bigger stix like 2gb so they can load their backups and some movies onto it.

What firmware are you on cos if your on higher then 2.0 its no use me telling you

Joeva is their a .rar file?

Downgrading: (1.5 is the firmware for homebrew and backups)
if his psp is 2.0 he has to use mph downgrader to downgrade to 1.5.
if his psp is 1.51, or 1.52 he has to upgrade to 2.0, then he can do the downgrade step.

Homebrew: this includes emulators eg, SNES, Genesis, GBA this can all be played on 1.5, 2.01+ can play a select few.

Backup isos: only 1.5

Playing isos: you have a couple of choices UMD emulator, Fastloader, Devhook I recommend you start with Fastloader, as it is also the backup/ripping tool.
www.psp-hacks.com youll find everything there.

Dumping is pretty easy
If your mem stick isn?t big enough you can split the files into parts and transfer them during the dumping project
i. Use the left/right button to specify the size of the RAR file to create
ii. Use the up button to enable/disable USB connection to PC

Instaling:
Every homebrew comes with its own readme file, that will tell you where to copy the files to. eg for fastloader it comes with folders ISO, ISOMISC, ISOSPLIT, and PSP in the PSP folder youll find GAME and in that youll find FASTLOADER and FASTLOADER%

Now in your psp you should also find a folder called PSP, and in that a folder called GAME, just copy FASTLOADER and FASTLOADER% into the GAME on your psp.
The ISO, ISOMISC nad ISOSPLIT folders should be placed where you PSP folder is so basically you want the same format on your psp as is in the fastloader files.
Installation for most homebrew is the same.

Nah stickies mean more work.
