ok, i just wanted to be sure that backup games for the psp will ONLY work on firmware v1.50. therefore fastloader/umdloader is useless on any other version of firmware.

This is true.
However 1.51,1.52 and 2.0 can be turned into a 1.5.
1.51, 1.52 can be upgraded to 2.0 which can be downgraded into a 1.5
2.0 stands alone as the only firmware that is downgradable.
