Ok, I'm going with all Verbatim Media from now on. But I noticed there are two different kinds. Datalife Plus and then regular. Which is better for burning dvd's. And another question, would you recommend I go with Dual Layer over the 4.7's??

I think I read somewhere that they are both the same. They just quit using "Datalife Plus" in the name. I can't swear to this though. In any case, either one should be fine.

Dual layer is really the best way to go, because you can get everything on them, without compression. But, they are still kinda expensive. The prices are coming down slowly though. If you can afford them, by all means, use them. I think most people are like me, and just use them for those "special movies".

I'll second JVC's post. If you got verbatim data life plus,no sweat. This is older media, but no sweat. If it's the +8x speed, then they are very sweet and getting harder to come by.

Here's why:

Verbatim data life
Verbatim data life plus
Verbatim media life-very old stuff
Verbatim digital movie quality.

Lots of confusion with all those names,so verbatim is just using data life on the majority of their newer spindles. They may still be making those digital movie quality discs? Top notch stuff.

Verbatim is the only DL media that I will use. Perhaps the finest quality of DL media to date.I don't do a whole lot of them, but special movies only! You got to watch out for which programs you backup dl media. Nero6 has trouble. DVD Decrypter is the way I go.Simple ISO read and write.

Don't pay over $2 a piece for those verb dl blanks. Lots of sales at Office Max/Office Depot/and Best Buy every now and then. Usually 10 pk spindles for $19.99

catfreak buddy, i think your local stores get inventory FASTER than mine over here, i've seen the 20pack/$39.99 Verb DLs (sale price), but not the 25-pack spindles as of yet...i was at bestbuy 2 days ago btw...

all the Verb DLs i have are the 10-pack spindles, haven't tried the higher denomination packs yet...still got quite a few left from before when i went on my DL shopping spree~ :)

My friend at Best Buy says that their order book has spindles of 50 and 100 Verbatim +R DL also ... He says the reason they don't carry them yet, is due to low demand ... maybe when the price falls to less that a dollar ...
