I am trying to learn how to burn dvd's. I just purchased a computer with a dvd burner in it. what programs do I need to get to do this?
My dvd player plays anything so I just need to know the process and what to download.

are you wanting to know how to back up existing dvds or convert AVI files that you have either downloaded from the net or created with your video camera that you have transferred from camera to computer

Do you require burning software

jbincin, you have a few options (freeware) you can get dvd shrink and dvd decrypter.

better stuff is clonedvd 2 with anydvd (which would be my choice) theres a 21 day free trial also this program is very easy to use and does all the newer movies without any problems(which the freeware will not do)use this guide to use any of the programs and download them

remember to use good blank media (Taiyo Yuden and or Verbatim) and burn at 4x starting out

heres a free application to change that pesky AVI file into and mpeg2 compatible format.Once you have converted it you can use a burning application like, roxio, Nero, imgburn etc to get your project to dvd+/-R
