Hello Everyone,

Is there a program you can get to play back movies already backed up to your hard drive. I thank you

Hello cyprusrom,

thank you so much for responding so quickly i really appreaciate that. I did try your suggestion and it did work. I just had to high light all the files and let them load into Windows Media Player and it played fine. I am not sure if you have a better idea thanks again

If you go in and browse the folder where you have your movie stored, you will see some files that are VTS_01_1, VTS_01_2...They are all over 1GB. Open any of those and the movie should play. That's what I do(well, actually now I play them inNero Show Time, it seems that I get better sound. It could be just my WMP settings).
Did you rip those files from and original, or downloaded them?

If you're talking about a program that can play DVD files that you've ripped to the HDD, I thought all PC players can play 'em. I know WinDVD can play the files.

Is WinDVD a free application?
Anyway, WMP does the job.

Hi again,

The movie was ripped to my hard drive from the dvd or the orginal. I never download movies or music "PERIOD". Only for the simple reason i feel share filing is very "UNSAFE" unless you know the sourse it coming form. So i always back up movies and music from dvd or cd orginal.

The reason I asked, is because if you just want to preview what you ripped, you can do that with your encoding software(like DVD Shrink or Nero Recode), before you actually start the processing.

Hello again,

The only two programs i use are AnyDVD and clone dvd2 which are both paid for. I am using Windows Media Player to view my movies which were backed up to the hard drive. actually it works pretty good and it was already installed on the computer. I'll say i am a winner in the since it is a freebie and i am saving money again so "HATS OFF TO WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER"

Yes, WMP plays very well, and it comes with your OS. There might be some other players, also free, that would have more options, like playback speeds, zooming or whatever, but WMP is good enough. I mostly use it to view my AVI files.
Cheers!

I have the full version of WinDVD but I think they offer the trial one at their website. But if your intentions are only what Cyprusrom has been aiming at, just go by what he said.

Some DVDs come with a DVD player that you can install. I know a couple come with InterDVD, and some other sorts of stuff. I don't know how reliable they are.

@tsquare43
I found that one browsing the web... that's how I feel some time with my machine...(is almost 6 y.o):~)!
